The demand for Information Technology (IT) labour is still going down.

CareerJunction studied the need for jobs in South Africa during 2023 to learn about employment trends in 2024. They looked into which types of jobs are needed more and checked if there were any changes over time, like what job roles got popular or not so much anymore.

These five job types have been very popular in recent years.

Business & Management,

Finance,

Information Technology (IT),

Sales, and Admin,

Office & Support.

In 2022 and 2023, lots of tech jobs were cut around the world. This affected South Africa too, where fewer people needed IT staff. As a result, other types of jobs became more popular than IT jobs on the list of in-demand job sectors. Business & Management professionals are now the most wanted workers locally since then.
