Even though we have started celebrating Women’s Month, we still have “that one”. We’d like to highlight the incredible journey of Sphamandla Minenhle Khumalo. At just 25 years old, he’s already making waves in the South African fashion scene as the founder of House of Lafoi, a brand dedicated to empowering women through stunning, thoughtfully designed clothing.
A Journey of Passion
Sphamandla’s path to fashion wasn’t exactly planned. Growing up in Mandeni, he didn’t see himself as a future designer. But as he discovered his love for clothing and personal style, he realized how transformative fashion can be—not just for how we look, but for how we feel about ourselves.
After studying Fashion Design and Textile at the Durban University of Technology, he jumped into the industry as Head of Design. Thanks to a mentor who guided him through the complexities of fashion, Sphamandla honed his skills and found his voice as a designer.
House of Lafoi: Crafting Empowerment
At House of Lafoi, Sphamandla’s mission is all about empowerment. He believes every woman deserves to feel beautiful and confident, regardless of her shape or size. Each piece is crafted with care, focusing on quality and individuality. As he celebrates Women’s Rights Month, Sphamandla is passionate about ensuring that his designs not only dazzle but also inspire.
Looking Ahead
In the next five years, Sphamandla envisions his brand as a household name not just in South Africa, but beyond. She hopes to collaborate with influential figures and participate in major fashion events, all while uplifting his community and championing women’s empowerment through his work.
