For decades the Northen KwaZulu Natal Region has only relied on one long-distance bus company for service. This changed last year in November, when, for the first time the region saw Intercape servicing its commuters. The bus company operates between Richards and Pretoria via Durban-N3 Road with popular stops such as Empangeni, Mvoti Plaza, Pietermaritzburg, and Johannesburg to name a few.
Due to the low season, this service runs Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. During peak season it operates daily with both Morning and Evening services. The Durban to Mozambique route has been opened after it was closed due to COVID-19. This route operates on specific days which are: Durban to Mozambique: Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Mozambique to Durban: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
