The Mayor of UMLALAZI Municipality, Her Worship Cllr Queen Xulu, has earned two highly regarded GCIS national awards for the municipality. The ceremony took place last night at Clarendon Hall in Bloemfontein. At the event, UMLALAZI led by example and won over both judges and attendants alike when it accepted one of any Thusong Satellite award out there- a truly outstanding achievement! Furthermore – as if that weren’t enough already- they also gained recognition as runner up for an ‘Outstanding Thusong Mobile’ title which only adds to their impressive list of accolades thus far (and sets them apart from more than 400 other centers nationwide).
Mayor Xulu attributed the latest achievement to her management and staff, commending their dedication in fulfilling responsibilities. She noted that most of the staff come from rural communities, making them highly aware of day-to-day struggles faced by residents. The Biyela Thusong Centre has played a vital role in service delivery to marginalized communities and proven itself as an important wing for accelerating services within these localities.
Undoubtedly, the IFP-led UMlalazi Municipality has taken a step in the right direction as it received these awards at a moment when it was making headlines for obtaining its inaugural clean audit. Moreover, EDTEA accredited this municipality with being labeled as the most sanitary amongst organizations located within rural communities.
