In an esteemed appointment, Zululand District welcomes Maj. General Jabu Khumalo as the new District Commander for the South African Police Service (SAPS). With a dedicated career spanning over 30 years, Maj. Gen. Khumalo brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the district, effective from October 1, 2024.
Maj. Gen. Khumalo’s career reflects a steadfast commitment to public safety and law enforcement. He has served across multiple specialized units, including an impressive 20-year tenure with the elite Special Task Force (STF). During his last five years there, he commanded the unit as a Brigadier, overseeing complex operations and providing leadership to the country’s most skilled officers. Additionally, Maj. Gen. Khumalo’s expertise in high-stakes environments is complemented by his experience with the Royal Protection Service, further showcasing his versatility in law enforcement.
Before taking on his current role, Maj. Gen. Khumalo served as District Commander for the uThukela District, where he implemented impactful strategies to enhance community safety and reduce crime rates. His extensive background and familiarity with both urban and rural law enforcement challenges make him an ideal fit for Zululand District.
As District Commander, Maj. Gen.
